Nara is the first permanent capital of Japan. It was established in year 710 and is home to Japan's oldest and largest temples. This is due to the strong influence of Buddhism to the place. When in Nara, don't forget to visit Nara Park, Todai-ji Temple, Kofuku-ji, Kasuga Shrine, and Nara National Museum.
