Going Back to Boracay? Here's What You Need to Know
Story by: admin ( Member ) on 2018-10-29
After being closed for six months, the renowned beach destination is now open! Can’t wait to visit Boracay soon? There are some things you need to know before you book your next trip to the island:

No Booking, No Entry Policy
As part of crowd-control initiatives in Boracay, “no hotel booking, no entry” will be strictly implemented. Officials at the jetty port will ask for a proof of your booking on any accredited properties. So make sure you bring a printed copy of your hotel reservation. The government has even pitched in a proposal to airlines to check if passengers have hotel booking on compliant hotels upon check-in and to advise them to not push through with their flight should they don’t have any. Got your flight already? Discover our great discounts on DOT-accredited hotels.

Reservations on DOT-Accredited Hotels Only
Don’t get attracted on great discounts you see online without making sure that the hotel you are about to book is DOT-accredited. In case you’ve made a booking on a non-compliant accommodation, you may ask for a refund. See the updated list of DOT-accredited establishments.

6,405 Tourist Arrivals a Day
Overcrowding was one of the problems on the island for several years. Citing a commissioned study, the government will limit daily tourist entrance to 6,405 as part of rehabilitating the island. Sadly, this means that PISO FARE will be seldom offered on this destination to control tourist arrivals. Check out our website to search for Boracay flights available.

Suspension of Water Sports Activities
Excited to go back to Boracay for some adrenaline rush? Oops, sadly, water sports activities are temporarily suspended to give way to the assessment and restoration of marine biodiversity around the island. Non-motorized activities such as kayaking and paddle boarding are still allowed aside from swimming. Boracay water sports activities will resume in December.

You can be fined or jailed for littering
Got a bad habit of throwing trash anywhere? Better start practicing a good habit. Officials, even the citizens, are on the lookout for those who will litter on the beach. So don’t be surprised if a citizen will approach and arrest you for littering. There are designated trash bins or you may bring your own plastic bag where you can keep your trash while strolling around the beach.

Other BIG NO-NOs on the Island:
No more beach parties – say goodbye to LaBoracay and late night parties along the beach.
Smoking & drinking ban – this is not only allowed along the beach and at public places but you can still do so at designated areas on the island.
No to open fires and use of kerosene gas or fuel – fire dancers will have to use LED lights instead of live fire.
No more business establishments along the beachfront – you still can get a henna tattoo on designated business areas on the island.
