Tired of the same old food experience whenever you travel to the City of Pines? Well, you can finally say goodbye to the cliché take outs and barbeques you used to have in Baguio for there’s already a new food gateway awaiting for you.
Amare La Cucina, an Italian phrase which literally translated as “The Love for Cooking”, is in the list of the new must-tries in Baguio City. It is a restaurant that serves pizza baked in a “pugon” or a wood fire brick oven. This process is what they call as the old school Neapolitan way of cooking in Italy. Amare had started small, and was originally located at the owner’s home. Now, it already has a place on its own inside the Albergo Hotel, near the Wright Park and The Mansion. It has garnered various positive food reviews both from the netizens and food critics.
Amare La Cucina basically serves Italian foods such as salad, pastas and pizzas, though they have also started to incorporate new food variety in their menu. Recently, they have acquired partnership with Baguio Craft Brewery, Baguio's first and only craft brewery with freshly-brewed beer with 16 rotating taps that perfectly matches the variety of food being served here. The place is for Italian food lovers that seeks to see the novelty that is in store in the city.
One of the reasons why people really keep on coming back is for them to experience firsthand the cooking process in the wood fire brick oven. Though the restaurant would want to accommodate everyone who would want to try making their own pizzas, they can now only offer this service during weekdays, where the volume of people eating at their restaurant is lesser. The popularity of the place is now known even to local artists as they, too, visit the place.
As a regular diner of Amare La Cucina, it is easier for me to say that I finally found the pizza haven that every pizza lover, like me, had always dreamt of! With the cold weather and the cozy ambiance of the restaurant, a box of freshly pugon baked pizza of your choice could never go wrong. So the next time you go and visit Baguio City, don’t take Amare La Cucina off your list or you will definitely regret it!
