Off-Road Adventure to Tinipak River!
Story by: jovy avisado ( Member ) on 2015-12-09
If you’re tired of mainstream leisures like strolling at the mall and watching movies, you might want to try some real outdoor adventure! Rizal is a great destination to start with for its home to various scenic attractions that are worth some hours-long of road trip and trekking. One of these attractions that is worth your while is the Tinipak River in Tanay, Rizal.

Tinipak River

This great destination is located in a village nestled at the Sierra Mountain ranges between Rizal and Quezon named Daraitan. Life in Daraitan, Tanay is very laid-lack where people are approachable and the environment is surrounded by enchanting sceneries. To get to this humble village, it is highly advisable to take the public transport instead of bringing your own due to the rough road ahead.

How to Get to Daraitan, Tanay

1. From EDSA Shaw, ride a jeepney bound to Tanay.
2. At Tanay public market, ride a jeepney / tricycle going to Daraitan. (Alternative: you may opt to ride on a habal-habal if you’re adventurous).
3. The jeepney / tricycle ride ends by a river bank. You have to cross the river to get to the Municipal Hall of Daraitan. There used to be a wooden bridge but it was destroyed by the Typhoon Lando. The short boat ride is Php10.00 per person. However, if you happened to bring your motorcycle, it’ll cost you Php30.00.
4. Upon crossing the river, ride a tricycle to get to the municipal hall.

Start the Off-Road Adventure

An amazing view welcomes you at the trail.

To start your Tinipak River escapade, you have to get a tour guide (Php500.00) from the municipal hall and pay the environmental fee (Php20.00). It’s a requirement that there’s a tour guide for every group of 10. About 5-minute walk from the municipal hall is the takeoff point of a great outdoor adventure!

Reaching Tinipak River requires patience and endurance. In addition to 2 hours of travel to Tanay, Rizal, you still have to spend about half hour in trekking the rough trail of giant rocks. Prior to your Tinipak River adventure, you have to prepare your stamina for an exciting outdoor adventure ahead.
After about 15-minute walk, you’ll reach the very boundary of Rizal and Quezon – an additional Php20.00 environmental fee per person is required. You’ll find nipa huts and wooden benches where you can rest for a while. There’s also a small diner or ‘carinderia’ to get a taste of some local dishes.

As you continue your Tinipak trail adventure in 8-10 minutes, you’ll finally reach your destination!

What’s the best thing to do once you’ve reached the Tinipak River? Jump in and enjoy in the refreshing coldness of the water! If you’re not a good swimmer, it would be best to not roam far out of the river. There’s a small cave just across the river bank – you might want to explore it and have a dip to a chilling inlet inside.

It’s time to try traveling somewhere new and adventurous! Pack up your bags and prepare for an exciting, rocky escapade!
